Serving Others through Quarry Compassion Ministries (QCM)
We believe that serving others is what we are called to do after loving God with all our heart, soul and mind. The Quarry reaches out to others outside our church community into the greater Monticello area as well as internationally.
We also have two sister churches, in Ecuador and Ukraine, that we send missions teams to annually and support financially and with prayer. We have also had short-term missions teams go out to other US cities and across the globe.
We encourage our small groups to serve together to grow closer through the shared experience, teach their children the way of serving, and ultimately, to show God’s love to the person, family or organization on the receiving end. Many opportunities are available throughout the year and will be promoted in the Sunday bulletin.
Through a monthly special offering, we regularly help people in our community who are in financial need.
Although not as glamorous or adventurous as international missions, local missions are the heart and soul of any church and here at the Quarry we strive to make our community the best it can be by helping out our neighbors in need. Here in Monticello you can get involved at any level through a number of opportunities:
Great River Area Faith-In-Action (www.grfia.org) Is a local service group that pairs those in need with those who can help in a multitude of ways from driving seniors to doctors appointments to gardening or cleaning at a person’s home, even playing cards! Serving Wright & Sherburne Counties.
Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity (www.cmhfh.org) Averages 7 new homes each year within 100 miles of Monticello and with them you can do anything from fund raising and community awareness to building and roofing.
The Monticello Food Shelf (www.MonticelloHelpCenter.org) (763-295-4031) provides nonperishable food supplies & personal care items for local needy families and is always looking for food or time donations. There are many varied opportunities to help!
Feed My Starving Children (www.fmsc.org) Packages a nutritious meal for a family that will be shipped around the world and they are always looking for families or small groups to help them out.
Youth Investment/Timber Bay is a Christian, non-profit organization that reaches out and mentors at-risk and hurting kids from the suburbs and small towns throughout Minnesota. Serving the youth of Monticello since 1999, Timber Bay staff and volunteers have enjoyed a strong working relationship with the Monticello school district, as well as local law enforcement, churches, and crisis counselors. Timber Bay is always open to more staff and mentors who have a heart for hurting kids in our community.
